Need some advice: I finally discovered thru DEBUG at the DOS prompt the video driver installed on my motherboard. It's a Matrox Millennium (V1.9) PCIR + 838-9, whatever all that extra means? (my video card is a pre 1998 model probably 1997).I went to the MATROX site and found the earliest dated driver I could find under Matrox Millennium model for Win95: "1607_200" (I assume the 200 stands for v.2.0) and mine is apparently v.1.9. Question No. 1: Do you think this driver will work??? I did check out DriverGuide but couldn't find anything any closer. Question No. 2 - If I don't remove the Oak Technology driver Win95 has in there now before I install this new video driver, would it create a big problem? I'd rather install the new and go back and "remove" Oak Technology from Windows. Pleas advise.

"Matrox Millennium (V1.9) PCIR + 838-9" refers , I believe, to the video bios in use for your vid card, but that's not the name of your card exactly. If you open your case and look at the card itself you may find the actual name of it. Failing that, a program like Belarc Adviser should tell you exactly what you have.
Once you find out what model it is then you can search for the proper drivers. There is no need to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones.

Rockerfellerz - thanks for your response. That is really bad news. I'm sure you're right that the description is actually from the video bios. But wouldn't that basic information, the company and the model have to have come also from the video card itself in order for it to show up on the video bios?
The driver I found is the oldest driver Matrox had on their site (my video card is from 1997) which was #1 Millennium compatible driver and #2 works with Win95. So, couldn't that still be it? Or, would I be taking that big of a chance trying to use it???????

I forgot to mention - the computer is not hooked up to the internet and can't be so I can't have the computer diagnosed from that site you mentioned. Wish I could have would have made life easier.

No harm in trying the drivers you found. If they don't work you can always start up in safe mode and change back to the one you were using. They could be the right ones.
You could try using a program called Sandra
It is a diagnostic program which tells you a lot about your system, but just runns on the computer, you don't need web access to use it(though you do need it to get it..) If you're going through Hell...keep going... (Winston Churchill)
