Hi All,

Can somebody explain me the new IFS method backup of Exchange that BEB 10.5 has?
I understood it's a way to backup the (virtual) M: partition of you Exchange server. But what is the added value? I currently use the Information Store backup and the Brick Level backup.

I did some tests with the IFS method, but each time it starts backing up my Exchange via that method the "CA BrightStor Backup Agent RPC Server" service in my Exchange server stops (crashes?)... So I left it out...

Kind regards,

I think the IFS method of backup was added by MS and they are starting to move away from it. I have found no added value of doing backups that way. If you are backing up database level, you are fine for a disaster recovery. If you are backing up brick level you are good incase someone deletes some email and you do not want to restore an entire server to get it.
