hello:

I have been experiencing a running problem on my server using backup exec 8.0. I have the latest revision as well as what apparently are the correct drivers installed. I set my backups up properly and they run when they are supposed to. However...the problem occurs while the backups are running. 9 times out of 10, the server will just "hang" in the middle of the backup. No response, no nothing, the only thing I can do is press the reset button on the server to get it back. When I do get it back up, there is no recollection of the backup event either in the event log or in BE. nothing, nada, zilch, like the backup never occurred...it started its backup, there is apparently some data on the tape, however it is not complete and almost impossible to retrieve.
Has this happened to anyone else?? I deperately need help, Veritas' tech support was of no use to me, and I am in dying need of successful backups. Is this a hardware or software conflict of some sorts? Is a file causing it to hang? anyone with any help would be much appreciated...
thank you

First step that I would take is to upgrade to version 8.5 this is a free upgrade from 8.0 you don't need any serial numbers. You can download it from the Veritas website!

i have tried version 8.5 as well....same thing happens...also to note, it sometimes happens in NT backup as well
