BE with MSL2024 config request!

Hi all,

I have a following hardware/Software:
HP Proliant DL380G5
HP StorareWorks MSL2024 LTO3 tape Autoloader (24 slots)
Currently Installed Library Firmware 4.20 / 2.70e
Drive: Ultrium 3-SCSI, G63W
Windows 2003 Server, BackupExec 12.5

I need to configure BE to use 23 slots for backup. I also need to use mailslot once a month to put a specific tape and make a full monthly backup.

Question is:
How should I configure tape library and BE so that it use only 23 slots and not Mail slot.
And also how can I move a tape from Mailslot
What is preferred Library Mode?

You need to configure the library thru the library interface to use the mail slot.
The library should be set to RANDOM mode.
I would setup a Policy and create your backup templates in the policy. create a month end policy with export template. After the backup runs it will export the tape to the mail slot.
Another option is to create a library partition(S) in Backlup Exec and configure SLOT 23 as a single partition and direct the monthend backup to that slot and create and export job to export slot 23 after month end backup runs. A few ways to do this.
