We're running Backup Exec v.7.3 build 2575 on an NT4.0 server.
Over the last couple of weeks, we've run scheduled jobs which have say they are "complete", but keep running even after everything has been backed up.
The only way to stop the job is to completely stop the BackupExec services, then restart them.
The abort option is not available, and we have not found any other way to solve this problem.

Veritas has been completely useless to us, so if anyone here can help us out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vik

This may or may not be similar to your problem, but all our servers use DLT drives with manual eject levers. If a job is set to eject the tape after completion, the job will continue running forever until the tape is manually ejected.

You probably don't have the Abort option available because BE thinks the job is completed. Have you been able to eject the tape after the job finished? What type of tape drive are you using?

We are using a HP SureStore Dat24 (external). We tried removing the option to eject tape after job without sucess. If we leave the eject option on, the tape does eject after the job completes and is listes as sucessful but then another job is display (same name, etc..) at 99% and listed as running. The completed job lists at 100%. Very odd.

I have had the same problem, but it has led to bigger problems. Now the BENGINE.EXE service hangs at startup. and musted be killed.

Any resolve to your problem?

Information sent to Veritas about above post. They told me to upgrade to 2575.
All worked no problem since I have been working for company until I shut down dirty when the server locked. Do not know if it is related.

I have to stop bengine.exe to reset the drive.
I am running version 7.3, SBS Suite rev. 2570. Seagate dat4 drive.
I did have the error referred to in Tech note 191346 but only once, and it never came back.
I only have this problem when I backup drive D (on which exchange and Veritas is installed) + exchange options.
I backup drive C, (WinNT installed here) + exchange options, job finishes, tape ejects.
I backup drive C and D + exchange options, and the activity light does not turn off, and must manually eject tape to stop activity.
