BE Synchronization with OFO

I have a server that when it trys to backup it gives the following error message:

"Backup Exec developed an error while trying to synchronize the server using the Open FIle Option."

The OS = Novell Netware 6.5 Sp2
BE Version = 8.5 Rev 4106

The Multi-path support is set to OFF and there are no SAN devices attached to the server. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get around this error without updating to 9.1?
