I'm trying to perform a restore job(this is my first restore w/ Veritas BE). I have cataloged the media (which is shown as completed in the job monitor pane), but when attempting to run a restore (by right-clicking the tape in the right hand pane of the Device Management view and selecting restore) I recieve an error stating: The selected media was not found in the catalogs. You must first catalog the media if you want to use for restore operations.

Any suggestions?

Go to the RESTORE tab. Your list of cataloged media will be there. Check to see that the backup you desire to restore is actually there.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just ran a catalog job, and checked the RESTORE tab and verified that no cataloged media are listed there.

Make sure the correct tapes are in; inventory them; then catalog them. Then see if they show up in the RESTORE tab.

I verified that the correct tape is loaded, ran an inventory, ran a catalog, clicked on the RESTORE tab, and no media are listed.

I'm currently in the same boat. I inventory and catalog our tapes but to no avail.

I was there with you. Found to articles on Veritas' site with instructions that finally worked.
Option 1 was to update to the latest MDAC
Option 2 was to stop all the BE services, rename VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Catalogs and rename betopcat.idx to .old and retstart the services.
