Hi. I am running Backup Exec v8.6 for Windows 2000 Server. I have the entire C: drive and System State selected for back up. Also I have Exchange 2000 on the server and am trying to back up mailboxes and information store as well (w/ Exchange agent installed). My issue is at 99% done with the verify process the back up says "Failed" "Unknown Reason" When I look at the log all I see is that it skipped over a few open files and one valid user's information store on Exchange. However, I run it to "Never" back up open files. I have a HP DLT 40/80 GB tape drive and a Dell PowerEdge 1400SC server. Can someone help me out with this issue? Can someone point out what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

Maybe if you post one of the failed backup logs we can find something useful in it...

OK, been a while but...........

1: Are you running the exchange agent? If not it won't back up exchange in any usable format.
2. Look for things in the log file like Skipped or failed or even bettter post your log file (preferably 2 so we can compare them, remember to delete any confidential stuff... except you bank details if you're a lottery winner!!! tee hee)
3. If you're running the exchange agent and you find "corrupt" in the log file this will most likely to be the cause go on to the veritas website and make sure you're running the latest service pack / version.

Until you post the log file I can't help any more. Sorry,

Iain
