BE Database Mgmt?

Looking into moving my NT backups from AS2K to BE8.6Adv.

One question, does BE require regular database tasks (Prune, Purge and the dreaded Pack) to keep it's internal databases at a manageable size level? (tape info db, job info db, ...) If so, can they all be scheduled to run or are they done manually?

The catalog information can be set to automatically truncate after x-days, and/or delete after x-days.
