BE and Exchange "Circular Logging"

When trying to backup "Microsoft Exchange Directory" and "Microsoft Exchange Information Store" I get BE giving me the following message:

&quot;Unable to attach to \\<servername>\Microsoft Exchange Directory. The operation cannot be performed since circular logging is enabled.
Incremental and differentail backups are not possible, because Microsoft Exchange is configured for Circular Logging&quot;

Am I being stupid or something - am I just not able to perform differentail backup then of Exchange Server? Only a full backup?

Hi CInman,

I just went through the same problem. The only way to be able to do &quot;incremental&quot; or &quot;differential&quot; backups of Exchange is by disabling &quot;circular logging&quot; in the Exchange Administrator.

However once I did this, I then started having problems with our OWA. Whenever someone tried to access their mailbox through OWA, it would come up with &quot;Unable to render view&quot; error.

I am still trying to work out why this is happening.
