Note that when we upgraded from BE90 RC4367 to BE90 RC4454 on several dozen Windows 2000 Server based Dell servers of varying hardware and service pack levels (mix of SP3 and SP4), we began experiencing an inconsistent problem of the machine hanging at a black screen when attempting to reboot. This ended up being tied to the latest RC4454 Remote Agent and Volume Snapshot Provider(VSP). It does not matter whether the BERA service is running or not, as the vsp.sys appears to tie at a deeper level. Veritas claims to have no prior knowledge of this problem, though considering all these being clean server machines of several varying model types, I do find this hard to believe. The resolution (for now) is to manually replace the vsp.sys file with the one from RC4367 and the problem will go away after one more assisted reboot.
