BE 8.0 and Remote Agent for BE9.0

I have BE 8.0 server running on a NT server. I have also setup a BE 9.0 on new win2k server. I need to push remote agent to BE 8.0 server so that I can test BE 9.0 server and remote agents before pulling the plug on existing BE 8.0 server. Can BE 8.0 server co-exist with BE 9.0 remote agent?
