BDE Initalization error

Hi,

During the install process of a Delphi program, I receive the following message:
SEVERE
Merging The Configuration File Has failed
Config File: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE\IDAPI.CNF

and then:

Failed in Adding Alias
The error Number is 3, Initalization failed

This is an XP SP2, fully patched.

Any idea what may be missing ??

Did you mean IDAPI.CFG? I don't know of a .CNF file.

thanks magicfrisbee, but the name of the file ends with .CNF

Maybe it's a vary old version I'm only a stranded user of Delphi. Not my own child.

First, I'd look to see if C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE\IDAPI.CFG exists.

Is BDE installed? It sounds like the "Delphi Program" as you called it, depends on it.
