I re-installed the entire WordPerfect Suite 8. While loading, it provided the following additional information:
"Exception EDBEngineError in module GXEngine.dll @ 00046296. An error occurred while attempting to initialize te Borland Database Engine (erros $306)

I OKed it and then another error appears: Runtime error 217@4F32F. I assume they are related.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Dugag,

You may have incompatible DLLs in your system folder. Check the version number of MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL.

To do this:

1. Launch Windows Explorer,
2. Navigate to SYSTEM (or SYSTEM32, if you're using NT/win2K)
3. Select (single-click, not double) each of the above DLL's.
4. Right-click the DLL and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
5. When the property sheet appears, choose the Version tab and then note the third part of the version number, e.g. 6.00.xxxx.0.

If either report 8168 as the xxxx portion, you need to obtain an update to these Microsoft library files. It's not the easiest thing to find, however, the instructions in this MS KB article seem to work:

Read this document carefully, as well as the one you eventually get to through the keyword search.

Also, please followup and let us know if this solves your problem.
