I just wanted to relay some websites to y'all about
distributing the borland database engine. The first
site gave me an install program that actually installs
a portable BDE. And guess what, it works.

I have now a method to distribute my BDE aware apps.

I hope they are useful.

Most of my programs also work with BDE, and I just use the installshield that borland delivers, at the end I have one setup.exe (at least for builder 6) where my program resides and with the bde configuration inside of it.

Dude, wimvanherp...

I wasn't that lucky... It ain't fair...

Thanks butthead,
I could use that.

It would seem that there is some portability issues with BDE. That may be why the BDE is being phased out so to speak. I have seen several posts about problematic issues related to distributing the proper database support. I have had some bad experiences related to complete reinstall and or formating the harddrive. I am very tempted to develope my own table structure and thump the BDE. in the meantime I hope this helps the many borland victims out there.
