We are moving from Win95 (that's right) to XP right now, and have some paradox applications that do not appear to work properly. Nearly all of our users will have limited user rights. We solved the problem of the PDOXUSRS.NET file by using:
Session.NetFileDir := 'C:\Temp';

All references to tables still return an error ('Table is read only').

Can Paradox operate as a limited user in XP?. I do not believe the directory we have the tables in is restricted at all.
Is this a BDE and not a paradox specific problem?

Does anyone know if ADO causes any problems with limited user rights? We are thinking about switching.

Brian

hi,

perhaps your database are marked readonly. When restoring from tapes or cd's databases could be restored as readonly. In the explorer select all the files. Rightmouse click and remove the readonly marker.

No, we tried that. Thanks though

ADO and Access is a good combination.
The Delphi ADO components work well.
I wouldnt trust more than 10 users
to any desktop database though.
ADO and MS SQL Server works well for
larger installations.

A good book is "professional ADO 2.x
programming" the Data Access Layer
puts the shame the BDE.

Thanks David.

We'll probably do that.

Our problem is related to folder rights, so there is not really a BDE problem.
