BDC authentication changes to other BDCs

I have a domain that trusts the master domain. This is a one way trust. I have a BDC locally for the master domain. The BDC is a NDS for NT box. What should happen is my users authenticate via my local BDC. What my problem is the authentication keeps moving boxes across the wan. The local box is not on the same segment but it is local. The other BDC's it uses are picked up across the Wan. I can reset the channel to the local BDC using NLTEST but it will reset to another server at least 3 times a day. When it switches my login times go from 10-15 seconds to minutes sometimes.
Any thoughts?
