I need to transfer tons of data from server A to server B. I am choosing bcp since DTS could be slow.

In the bcp out command in server A, can I use the directory of the server B so the file will be directly created in server B and then i can bcp in it. Second choice is (if the first one is not doable) to store the out file in my PC. (is that possible?)

I am trying to void the two step process to move the file over to server B for bcp in.

any suggestions?

I am suprised you are saying DTS is slow. Have you tried DTS to test your comment. Maybe on a small batch of data just to get some throughput metrics.

Thanks
