Hi All.

I have a customer running BCMS R2 V3.2 with 5 licences.

One client cannot run historical reports, but is fine on real-time stuff. When she tries to run hisorical, she gets "Error 8511. The server has detected a problem with the database"

All other clients can run historical reports ok. Since they're all using the same db file, how can there be a problem with it?

Any thoughts gratefully received!

Matt

When installing anti-virus software with BCMSVu, set the histdb.mdb file for exclusion from the anti-virus service. You may need to consult your anti-virus documentation for this. Remote users are unable to gain access to historical reports because the database is locked by the anti-virus process when the user accessed it.

I have also seen this error when the person in questions did not have access (via the LAN) to the shared folder on the BCMS Vu Server. A good test is to have that person try and browse the network to that shared file. If they can't gain access that way, they won't be able to gain access through BCMS Vu Client.

I seen several BCMS errors on clients that had some of the crystal reports files updated. Try re-installing the client and selecting ,<YES> to replace newer files. I think there was a FAQ on here or Avaya's support site.

BCMSVu is not an application where you can use common sense. The real-time data stream set-up and security validation is completely different than historical. And just because other users get historical data unfortunately means nothing. Sometimes you need to tweak things for each user

I've also see it where the client is not on the same subnet as the server

I know your post is pretty old, but I just joined tek-tips today and was looking for a solution to the same problem.

I found it on one of the faqs on Avaya's sight. The users must have full permissions on the BCMSVu shared directory. We're running BCMSVu version 2.0.
