BCM50r3 echo on analog trunk w/IP sets

I have a BCM50 release 3 with 6 analog trunks and 8 IP sets attached. Line 062 in the system has an echo on it. I tried moving the trunk to another port, but same issue occurred. I swapped line 061 and 062 and line 061 had the echo. I disabled the cartridge and re-enabled the cartridge, rebooted the system and still an echo.
I removed the line from the system, put it on an old CICS 1.0 and attached a digital set. No echo.
Any patches?
Any help?

There's a document on the Nortel website called Managing Echo On BCM and SRG that details exactly what to do to resolve this issue (assuming your system is patched current). I don't think you need a logon to get it either.

Give it a try, if you can't locate it or download it, post here again and I'll arrange for you to get it.

im not certain if the system is patched or not... can i check? and where would i get these patches?

Log into the BCM, click on the Administration tab and expand the Software Management link and open up the Software Update History link, It will give you a line entry for every patch that was installed and when.

You can get the patches from the Nortel website but you need a logon id to download them. If you don't have one, you will need to contact a vendor and have them do it for you.

I have a logon ID for nortel...

should i just log in and go under BCM? the patches are listed there?

It sounds like line 062 is 'hotter' than the other lines. Try playing with the line settings (short CO, medium CO, etc).

Also, if you work for the Telco, see if you can get one of your coworkers to add loop length to the line coming in...hell, scotchlocking it to both ends in a box of CAT3 to add 1000 feet to it before it gets to your switch might help in testing.

Yes, just log into your account and do a search on BCM50 patches (if you don't already have your "My Support Centre" set up for it.

Just go into the Support and Training tab and select Software downloads. You can easilly search from there.

You will also find that manual under Technical documentation. Just search on the title Managing Echo on BCM and SRG.

I may be wrong, but I think the echo patch deals with having echo issues in general on the BCM50 1.0 release, of course he needs to make sure his system has the current patches as telcodog says, but I think the issue will still be there after he is fully patched. If it is, look at the particular trunk causing the issue for the solution.
