I have a BCM50r3 using software version 9.0.1.30.572 and I have a problem with call volumes on handsets. My BCM50 is sat on a 20-channel ISDN30 from British Telecom and is using the T7208 digital phones.

The problem is when an agent answers a call the volume of the phone is set very low, so the agent uses the volume control on the phone to make the call louder which works fine. After the call has ended and the agent takes another call, the volume has reverted to the original low setting.

I have the receiver volume set to 'use set volume' currently in the Feature Settings. Is there a way to force the volume on the phones to its maximum so that it remains permanently?

Under System programming, feature settings make sure the option for receiver volume is set to user, rather than system. It defaults to system and goes back after each call to a pre set system level. Change it to user and it will resolve your issue.

I'm not sure about the UK, but in North America if you have volume issues on a digital trunk, you can change the network type from ISDN to PSTN and that usually helps. Other than that I would have the telco come out and do some testing on the circuit and check the dip switches on the network interface device.
