Bcm50R3 Bcm50/450 replacement Hard Drive Failed 3

Trying to replace a defective hard drive and getting this error for the first time..I guess the Bcm50 has hardware error or is fried.
I am using the same image of Bcm50/450 replacement drive and always succeed but this one is giving me a hard time.
Maybe someone encountered this error before and knows if the Bcm is really fried as it is my guess.
The same image drive works fine in other Bcm50 R3, R5 and R6 i have.

I get the error "Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:0e"

From reading about the problem, my understanding is that you are trying to restore a BCM 50 at release 3.0, using the multi image disk?.

How about just using the BCM 50 release 3.0 factory image instead?.

Is this a labrat off ebay/other or was it a working system?

Did you choose the correct image release?

What pattern/colours are the LED's when booting?

R3 always seems to be difficult. I had one this week to repair and upgrade to R6. I didn't have a ready made R3 hard drive, so I threw in an R2. It booted up OK, but the system ID was blank when I accessed F9*8 through a digital phone.

I then imaged an R3 hard drive and the system ID came up fine when it finished booting up.

So maybe try another release hard drive to see if it will play nicely.

CurlyCord, it was a working system that failed after 12 years...!
exsmogger, good idea to try with an R2 hard drive if R3 fails as well just to see if it boots with R2 or if the Bcm50 is really dead.

Thanks for your help guys, i'll work on it this week and get back with the results
