Is the router in the BCM50e equivalent to the BSR222?

I have a BCM50e and I am installing BES50FE switch to add POE. Right now I am using Belkin router connected to BES50FE switch. It works but I want more control. can I use BCM50E built in router or should I buy separate BSR222? That is my question(s).

Either will work.

I prefer the BSR 222. If you ever have to do maintenance on the BCM, the users still have their data connection while you're working on the BCM.

Yes, the router in the BCM is the same as the the BSR.

If getting a BCM and a router, I'd get a 50 and a BSR rather than a 50e, for the reason biv343 gives (even though it's a little more expensive this way).

However, if I already had a 50e, then I'd not bother to get a BSR separately.

For the sake of asking, what extra control are you hoping to get from using a BSR222?

More control over individual port security and VPN for remote locations. (IP phones at homes of key employees). I'm thinking BSR222 or BCM50e router more robust overall than Belkin Router. I have decided to use BCM50e for now. If presented with any trouble I will buy BSR222. Thanks to all for the responses.
