I have a BCM50e at a customer's site. All four c.o. trunks are connected into Verizon service from the demarc. Line one rolls over to two, three, and four. Problem: only c.o. lines 1,2, & 3 will ring, line 4 does not ring, however all four c.o. lines get dial tone. So, until I can figure out how to fix this, I have connected an analog set with a ringer to the demarc side just to get the ring sound. I have even dialed the fourth number directly. No ring.

Here is a way I made it work temporarily: reboot the system. On the first call on line 4, it rings. Then it remains silent--no ring after that.

Please recommend a solution. Right now my only other possibility is to replace and reprogram. Ouch.

Check using BCM Monitor to see if the system is answering the line EG: AA.
Have you check appear-ring setting for line 4.
could be set to appear only.
Does the LED flash as if its ringing.
Can you amswer the call on line 4 if its flashing.

is line 4 the same hunt (roleover) number in the CO

There was an issue before on rel2 with line ringing.
Apply lastest patches to fix.

Also try swapping one off the working lines to this port to see if the same problem moves with the line.

To see if it is the port swap the line to a ringing port and call it. The earlier s/w versions had a problem with ring voltage blowing the ports out.

Well, Line 4 gives no indication unless you select it for an outgoing line. Then it indicates.
All four line properties have been set and checked for "appear and ring"
There is no flashing indication while the line is being called. No LCD.
When selecting line 4 for outgoing, you get the LCD arrow.

Not sure of the BCM monitor.

Tried reversing line 3 co number with line 4, still no-ring problem on line 4. Same port.
Reconnected back the was it was to line 4.
Don't have the resources to fix a patch.

Any suggestions?

You have a bad port if a different line wont ring on that port. You can try a level 2 reset and reprogram and see if it works.

My bet it's as Snowman said, the patch is missing that fixed the line 4 ringing issue. If you don't have the resources to fix it yourself, you'll need to call someone who has the credentials to download and install the patch unless you can live with just three ports. You can find an accredited Nortel partner by going to:

download from nortel if ur an authorized dealer. if not, call the aurhorized vendor that installed it.
