I've been testing these phones for about a year and have never had this problem before. Running a BCM50 R3.0. When I plug in the 1120E and set the parameters, the phone goes thru the normal sequence 'til it gets to the firmware download. When the download is just about finished, the phone locks up then reboots. It never gets to write the files to the phone. I can plug in an 1140E with no problems, so I don't think it's my system or corrupted firmware. Also, the firmware in some of the 1120E phones that DO boot is the same as some that don't! All suggestions welcome!...Thanks!

My initial thoughts is what is your BCM 50 current patching level?. It might be that the System patch needs updating to the latest level of 259 in case the firmware is out of date on the BCM 50.

Here is last weeks patching updates for release 3.0

BCM50 3.0

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Did you recently purchase the 1120E? The latest hardware has a "minimum software" limitation - i.e. if you try to load software on it which is below a certain level, then it will reject the attempt. As firebirdscrambler is alluding to, your BCM may have old software for the 1120E on it which is getting rejected when it is pushed to the 1120E.

Thanks for the quick responses! Well,I thought of the patches but these are very old phones ..s/w version 0624C1A and 7 out of 60 phones have actually upgraded ok to 0624C4D. I know that's pretty old also but most of the phones that we buy are used so it hasn't caused any problems in the past. There's really no sense to this at all unless the s/w on the phones is corrupted. I'll look into the patches just the same. Thanks for the help!...I'll let you know if the patches work!

Well I searched the patches that you had listed, Firebird but I couldn't find any that apply to this situation. I checked the Avaya web-site as well and no luck there either. In the mean-time I turned the UTFP off and the phones booted fine. They'll take the download through my TFTP-server but then they just sit there and don't know what to do. I guess I'll have to adjust the config file when I have time. As for now..thanks for the replies!
