Ok, just picked up this BCM50 really cheap and wanted to get into it via web browser. I plugged it into my small office router and ran **STARTUP through a 7316 set. Reset it in PBX form and went into IP config and turned on DHCP and reset. Got the new IP from the router and punched it in my browser and got the login prompt. Of course I have no idea what the old UN/PW is on this system and I was told not to do a level 2 reset because my digital sets won't work anymore without the activation. This system is nothing more than something to get me more familiar with the BCM systems. All my other experience is with the MICS/CICS. Should I contact Nortel? Do I have other reset options? What do y'all think? Thanks in advance...

have you tried the default un/passwords?

i.e.

un: nn_admin
pw: PlsChgMe!

un: ee_admin
pw: PlsChgMe!

un: ee_admin
pw: eedge

?

Joelio - Don't contact Nortel to get the password. They won't help you. You need to contact Avaya now.

Ya I tried all the defaults you suggested and no dice. I'm going to continue searching. Thanks so far.

Also Firebird the IP address issues are resolved, everything now is a question of getting access through the user name and PW. Do you have anything on that?

jamaster 14 you are not supposed to give out user names & passwords on this site. Joelio good thing for you that he doesn't know the default user name of a BCM50. Find it out & you could get lucky.

If you don't care about the current configuration in the system, go ahead and do the level 2 reset. You'll just have to regenerate the license file from KRS (assuming this is a legal system) to get your sets working again. Hopefully you have element manager on your PC but even if you don't, just go to the BCM's web page once its reset and download it from there. You will be able to log into it using the default login.

BTW, none of those usernames supplied by jamaster will work on the BCM50 and I will echo pccal to jamaster14......no usernames/passwords/email addresses or phone numbers are allowed on this site. Hackers read this site too!

Well, as telcodog states, you could get the licence file again from the KRS, but you could also possibly get it from the system.

Often, even if the installer changed the Element Manager (access from a PC) password, he may not have changed the password for login from a telset.
Try logging in using Feature 9*8 from a telset. If you get in, navigate to the Feature-Codes section and then make a note of the values of all the features and also the 24-digit keycode number (which will appear as three separate 8-digit blocks).
If you collect all of those details, then you can level-2-reset the machine and then manually enter all of those licence details again afterwards to get the system up and working.

Finally, for the sake of mentioning it, it's probably a level-1 reset you want, not a level-2 reset. The difference is that a L2 reset removes software patches, which I guess you probably don't need/want to do.

Ok thanks guys, I will try what you say Frideo. I can get in through the digital set into F9*8 already so this seems like a logical step. Ok so after the reset you're saying the UN/PW that is default in the manual should work correct?

Is it the 'Entitlement Codes' that I want to save? Whether it is or isn't I have full access to the feature codes through my 7316 on ext 221.

sorry, should have read the forum rules before just posting that up there. wont happen again.

Yes, the Entitlement-Code is three 8-digit numbers, which together make up the 24-digit keycode number.

In the Feature-Codes section (after logging in with F9*8), you should see the SystemID, the SequenceNumber (make a note of this also) and the FeatureList. Make sure you make a note of everything in there carefully, because if you forget something or record something even slightly incorrectly, then the codes won't work when you go to enter them after the reset.

You want to be recording how many VM, UM, CTE, Fax, VOIP Trunks and everything else that are on the system.

FYI

I don't believe a level 1 reset will reset pswds to default. Level 2 will.

Any ideas why when I try to do the reset by pushing the button it doesn't respond? I pushed the button a few times and can't get any blinking light to go through the reset sequence. Am I missing something?

Which type of reset? There's a certain sequence u must follow.

The level 2 reset. I read through the entire section in the manual. I just tried pushing the button while it was running to watch the flash sequence but it never came.

There's a sequence to pushing the button. u don't just push it once. Follow the instructions in the manual. U also have to do the reset sequence before system boots up all the way.

Ok just did the Level 1 reset and got in via router. It reset my UN/PW back to default. Thanks everyone!

I tried re-entering my entitlement codes through the element manager but it keeps tellin me the codes are invalid. I did the seq #1 then entered in the codes but no luck. What am I doing wrong?
