BCM50 Upgrade from 1.0 to 3.0

I have done quite a few BCM upgrades in the past. I haven't been able to find much information on any gotchas in the 3.0 upgrade procedure (this will be my first 3.0 upgrade). Is anyone aware of any patches needed prior to the upgrade or any problems experienced during or after that I should be aware of? I have read the upgrade guide and have a few questions such as "Performing the fourth step of the upgrade (optional) but Nortel recommends that you perform this step for all BCM50 systems" is it optional or not?

Not sure if it matters or not but I'd load the latest service update before doing the upgrade.
