BCM50
Was release 3 and upgraded to 6.0

Patches:
System 021
Desktop 005

I am besides myself with more stress then ever after 50 hours of trying to get SIP going on the bloody thing....

Alarms showed upgrade to 6.0 successful
Software Update History shows 3.0 to 6.0 and also the 6.0 image installed.
Online Documentation shows as 6.0

But why I am suspicious of the upgrade....

-Keycodes tab shows SW Version 3.0 below the Date Stamp.
-Element Manager on the box is only 62.03 and states its up to date
-This from the Factory Default Programming record is not listed in my Element Manager:

Hello Curlycord

I've been doing some digging and you are all correct!. Please go to this site in the UK that sells the licences

There is an upgrade for the BCM 50 Avaya BCM50 5.0 to 6.0 Software Upgrade License near the top for £60.20 Part Code: NTAT0167 E-Auth: NTKC1251

Near to the bottom, there is
Avaya BCM50 2.0 + 3.0 to 6.0 Software Upgrade Electronic Authorization Licence
for £174.65 Part code E-Auth: NTKC1247

Hopefully, this explains and answers your query?. Still puzzled why SIP isn't working!.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hi Curly!

By completing the upgrade procedure from 3.0 to 6.0, you updated the "firmware" stored the BCM50 main board (the UBOOT and FPGA images).

Having the firmware up-to-date gives you a relatively easy option that you could try. If you have access to another BCM50 R6 system (it looks like you do), you can simply clone the hard drive from the "good" R6 system and use the cloned drive in this upgraded system. By cloning, you'll get exactly the same software (including patches) - if the SIP Client option appears on the source R6 system, it will be present on the upgraded system, too.

Keycodes should not be a problem either - R6 systems are supposed to store the last good keycode file in a flash device on the main board - the keycodes should be thus retained even when the drive is replaced with the cloned one. In the worst case, you could just apply the keycode file again.

Good luck!

Thanks all, I also do wonder about level 2 reset now that I have the 6.0 factory image patch installed.

FYI the key codes and processed I did:
NTKC0349 - SIP Gateway 2 Trunks
NTKC0224 - VoIP Gateway 1 Trunk
NTKC0589 - Unified messaging 1 seat
NTKC0229 - IP Telephony 1 seat
NTKC1246 - 2.0/3.0 to 6.0 Upgrade kit

Checked time zone
Enabled All for DHCP
Load keycode
Upgrade
Confirmed via Alarms and Software History
Tested
Installed 6.0 Image patch
Installed desktop and system patches

Update

I did manage to do a level reset via putty and it did come up as a clean 6.0 and with key codes but without of course.

-In re-doing the patches I see that System 021 comes with EM 62.0.3.111 <---- patch is from 2014 and EM 62.05 is 2012, good grief!

-I also noticed that the troubleshooting guide on the box refers to 5.0 so when explaining SIP issues its a tad useless.

-Keycodes tab shows SW Version 3.0 below the Date Stamp <-----still there.

Sloppy patch design

So all was for nothing but at least I know its now a clean install.
