Ive just bought a new system that was used for a project that never came off.

I want to use this a a small system and setup digital sets and analogue lines and later on a few ip clients setup.

Now ive been told that because the SRG keycode is on there, I could not use the system for digital sets or analogue lines. I dont really want to pay out for new keycodes, until I know this will work.

Ive been in contact with many resellers and they have not got a clue and want to charge me for the removal of the keycode.

Now can someone help me here, as I wont use SRG.

Thanks From
Bill

You need to perform a level 2 reset on the SRG50 system to remove the keycodes, this will return it to a BCM50. The procedure for this is in the Installation and Maintenance guide. This will also remove all programming and patches. Once that is completed, you will need to get in contact with Nortel's KRS group. They will be able to remove the keycode from the KRS system and allow you to purchase new features. That will most likely require you contact your Vendor.

Thanks for your reply. Ive asked a few resellers and they want £45 to get this removed.

Can anyone help me, I need to get this removed, but nortel doesnt want to know. None of the resellers seem to know what to do other than raise a case to nortel and see what they say. Can anyone know they can get this removed, as I really want to use this as a normal phone system.

Thanks for your time.

dwpoole is correct. Doing a level 2 reset will return the system to factory default, then you have to adjust the licensing.

But if you want to add licences for digitgal stations, analog sets and trunks, you need to get in touch with Nortel KRS and have them remove the licensing you currently have that you do not want (like SRG). You really have no choice but to do it this way because the system will be registered with Nortel and everytime you try to download the license files, it will give you what they have on record in their database for that system ID until they change it.

You can call Nortel yourself (1-800-4Nortel)and open a case using a credit card if you don't want to use a certified vendor, but you'll have a hard time finding someone to the work for you for nothing.

Good Luck with it.
