Firstly SIP trunks with R5 is this possible - will it work OK

Has anyone ever registered a BCM 50 to a Freepbx extension or similar asterisk platform via the BCM50 SIP trunking, will this work and has anyone config settings for same,

I have a BCM 50 at release 6.0 and have successfully registered a SIP service OK using a free service called sipgate.co.uk in the UK. I can receive calls OK for free but now have to pay to make outgoing calls from it although the older basic service they did still offers free sipgate to sipgate users calls.

Why would you want to register SIP trunks to an asterisk extension? Asterisk allows SIP trunks as peer connections. Go to wiki.emetrotel.org and just search BCM50 SIP trunking. They lay out exactly how to configure both ends. Done it many times and works great.

Here is my thinking. Only one registration can be achieved per BCM50 trunk yea??? If I register the BCM50 trunk to a freepbx extension then it can be linked to other locations where there is also extensions on the free pbx system. In addition many trunks registered on the freepbx system can point towards the same extension. I have different trunks for various reasons eg support or advoacy who all have their own trunk and pay their own charges etc. Is that making sense.... or maybe not

anyway to know that the BCM50 could register to a free pbx extension instead of a direct sip trunk would be good especially for Rls 5.
