First experience with a BCM50, system version 30ECB34 NAT. I discovered Set Relocation was active after making some changes. I moved station 972 to a new 7316E set at a different desk. Then punched down the jumper for station 229 to the wall phone that was 972. When I went to the wall phone, 229, to test it, it still showed 972 and was asking for a KEYCODE and I can't place any calls.

So what is the best way to undue the Set Relocation problem? Should I swap the set so the BCM moves 972 back to port 503? Then disable Set Relocation, so I can put the sets where the client wants them with the right numbers? Will the phone still ask for a KEYCODE? Will this fix the problem or is there another way?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions...

Put them back and switch off set relocation..

The key code bit is still a concern.
If the phone is working before it should not ask for a key code.

My question is are you connecting yo the bale harness on the main ccu.
It should gave 12 digital licence .

Look in keycodes to see how many digital keys you have. The main will take 12 sets but you need 12 keys for them to be active. An expansion module does not need digital keys just an expansion key.

Where did you punch it down? If you punched it down to a port on the base cabinet and there are no keycodes for ports on the base cabinet then you would get a keycode needed message in the display. If you have other ports available on the expansion cabinet try using one of those.

I did move the original set back to port 503 and left the other port 409 vacant. The BCM50 returned the IC 972 to port 503 OK. Then I logged in and disabled Set Relocation and saved, exited programming. Next, I put the 7316E phones where the client wanted them. IC 972 is working properly on the new phone, but port 409, IC 229, is still prompting for a Keycode. So, I had the IT guy launch Element Manager to take a look at the license file. It showed 2 expansion modules, 4 analogue stations, but only 8 digital stations. I think that explains why port 409 is asking for a Keycode. So I found another port, 505, was available, assigned IC 222 to that one, then moved the jumper to that port. It now works as expected on the 7316E wall phone.

Why the original vendor, AT&T (ARROGANT THUGS & THIEVES), did not put licenses for all the available ports on the main unit makes no sense to me. As I inventory the system with the IT guy, we will see what else might be missing licenses. Element Manager showed the BCM50 is revision 5.0. What is required to upgrade to 6.0? I have a lot of reading to do to learn the BCM50 better. We found missing designation labels on many phones, or incorrect ones. So those will need replacing.

Thanks guys for your help and suggestions...

Because it's cheaper to put in an expansion module (plus keycode) with DSM16 0r DSM32 than activating the digital ports on the main cabinet.
