Ok I am only familiar with MICS and CICS. A customer called saying their BCM50 was restarting (light flashes then comes back up). Since I am not familiar with BCM I was hoping it was bad power or loose conection.
When I got there it was down, and flashing constantly. I powered it down several times and it did eventualy come back up. There are a few event codes 623, 247 and 299. Any guesses? It has been in about 4 years. No loose connections, power is good.

If it's a BCM 50, then there is a high chance that the hard disk is on it's way out. My advice is to log in and do a full backup A.S.A.P. Also get the keycodes and anything else.

If possible, get hold of a replacement disk of the correct version. I've done some FAQ's that may help you.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Alarm Codes:
643 - Internal software activation error.
247 - An invalid channel related event was received.
299 - The KSU is being powered up.

I think Firebird is right, the BCM hard drive might be starting to deteriorate.

Thanks to both of you. I sure I can do a back up with the help of the great people here at Tek-Tips. Having no formal training on BCM would I be correct to assume replacing a hard disk may be beyond my abilities?

There was a group of BCM50s manufactured in a particular date range (possibly third quarter 2007) that shipped with hard drives that prematurely failed. Try to find the date of manufacture and talk to your Avaya rep to see if it qualifies for a replacement. I used to swear by the 50 until I had 4 or 5 hard drive failures within a year or so.
