I just installed a BCM50 Rel 2 with softwaer version 2.0.2.05e.

I'm trying to install 2 updates that I got via email from the vendor.

BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement
BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903

When I try to install from my PC directory, it tells me "File Transfer Failed".

When I try to install from the USB Key in the BCM, the 'apply' button is greyed out and the Status is "invalid".

I know that the second update says it's 134Megs but the files are not that large. Is it trying to pull required files from a Nortel Server and I've not configured something?

Thanks? Thanks. Shawn

Are they zipped? Did you extract them to the right directory?
As well you should install BCM050.R200.SU.Desktop.009-200807-1.0-1.0 patch first, then download the latest Element Manager then BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement an finally BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903.

What i had requested from the vendor was BCM050.R200.041-IPMUSIC which would upgrade the Music Manager to add the volume control.

He emailed me the following:

"BCM50 r2 patch 1" (zipped) which includes:
BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement-1.1-1.0.ppc.umd
BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement-1.1-1.0.ppc.uxd
software-management-42.00.05.158-2.58.ppc.rpm
Files total 51.1KB

"BCM50 r2 Patch 2" (zipped) which includes:
cte-7.12.01.A-2.06.ppc.rpm
doorphone-42.2.6.127-3.59.ppc.rpm
glibc-2.3.2-80.10.13.1.0_2007k.ppc.rpm
lan-cte-provider-7.12.01.A-2.06.ppc.rpm
modemcc-42.02.01.142-2.08.ppc.rpm
mof-db-2.60-2.60.ppc.rpm
nnu-42.1.10.15-2.45.ppc.rpm
nnu-pdrd-42.1.10.15-2.45.ppc.rpm
openssh-4.4p1-80.10.07.1.0.ppc.rpm
openssl-0.9.7l-80.10.07.1.0.ppc.rpm
srg-remove-1.0-1.0.ppc.rpm
***Files total 4.4 Megs

ipmusic-42.1.15.102-3.73.ppc.rpm
***File totals 2.2 Megs

"BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903-1.0-1.1" (zipped) which includes:
CM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903-1.0-1.1.ppc.umd
BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903-1.0-1.1.ppc.uxd
***Files total 50.2 KB

I've unzipped them all into one directory and ran the software update in Element Manager (version 2.05e.0 build rpmwin502ag12).

I select "my Computer' and browse to the directory with the files. It shows "retreiving updates from Device' and then "Validating Software Updates" (takes about 90 seconds

Then the "Find Software Updates" window pops up to select the update I want to apply.

The options are:
1) BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement-1.1-1.o (134 KB)
2) BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903 (104.77 MB)

Both have a status of 'Available"

When I select either, I get the confirm window asking "Are you sure you want to retieve and apply this update now?" and below that "Select the optional componts you want to apply" but there is nothing listed.

I select "Yes"

I get an Error "File Transfer Failed"

When I try to do the update from the "USB Key" - all files are in the root directory and they are the only files loaded, I go through the same process as above but when the "Find Software Updates" window comes back, it listed both updates as above but they have a Status of "Invalid" and the 'apply' button is greyed out.

I'm confused because I think I'm missing some files. For example, teh BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903 shows as 104.77 MB in the update window, however, the files on the USB or My Computer Directory are less than 5 Megs.

My old CICS is starting to look good right about now. :)

Thanks for any assistance/advice.

Shawn

The software management patch is normally packaged with the SU-System patch. The SU-System-14 patch contains 51 files. You will need to go back to your vendor and get the full system patch. Good luck.

I got the disk from the vendor this morning - included both the Software Management patch (BCM050.R200.103-SoftwareManagement-1.1-1.0) and the SU Patch (BCM050.R200.SU.System.014-200903) - so I instlled just the SU patch.

The original reason for all of this was to get the BCM050.R200.041-IPMUSIC patch for the Music Manager so that I could lower the volume for the MOH.

So, after applying the patch, rebooting the system, I go into Music Manager and I see no volume control.

The software inventory shows ipmusic version 42.1.15.102-3.73.

Did I miss something? Is the volume control hidden?

Sorry - ignore my last post - i re-read the release notes.

Thanks for all of your help.

Shawn
