I have a BCM50 R6, fully updated to System.22 and Desktop.05.

System reboots 3 to 4 times a day with no regularity and there are no Alarms leading up to the reboot. Without the reboots the Alarm folder would practically be empty with the exception of weekly backups.

System is on a working, Tested UPS and we just replaced the Power Supply this morning. My feeling though is that the System will reboot again sometime today. My gut is telling me there may be something wrong with the HD and that will be our next step.

Has anyone encountered this before or have any other idea's?

Thanks!

I think you should do a backup while you can , and also an image of the HD.

Try doing a level 2 reset then restore from backup.

Or go ahead and replace the HD as the next step.

Do you get any power related alarms?
Do you check the alarms?
can you port the alarms between 2 reboots?

At release 6.0, I think you can look in the Alarm area to see what happened prior to a reboot. Find out if something is in there. Also check that the power lead is secure and not lose as I've known this to happen at the BCM unit end and it's easy to knock it when working by the system if it is in a comms cabinet etc.

Also find out if the BCM is running hot by feeling around the unit and power leads. Finally use the BCM Monitor tool to look for excessive peaks in performance on the right hand tab.

If this is heat related, then you can always use a suitable SSD drive and I've done this on my home system.

Thanks for the replies Curly and Firefird. I just checked the Alarms this morning after we replaced the Power Supply yesterday morning and as this moment it has not rebooted nor has any alarms been presented. I will monitor for another couple of days but I still am not feeling confident that the PS is the problem.

I'll keep you posted.

For some reason I thought you replaced the PS yet still had a problem because you posted.

Power Supplies are known to cause issues so you most likely fixed it.

Curly - Yes, It may not have been clear but I mentioned that the PS was replaced the morning I posted this. Anyway, we have been about 36 hours since we replaced the PS and no problems so Hopefully that was it.

Thanks for your feedback.
