I have a BCM50 R3 that's died. It's getting harder and harder to find R3 systems. I want to retain my R3 keycodes.
What would be the upgrade process if I wanted to take my R3 keycodes and transfer them to a new R5 system?

TIA

Purchase a Migration keycode, that will move the existing codes to the new system. Then you will return the old system to Avaya and they will wipe it clean and send it back to you with nothing on it. If you do not send the old unit back within a certain time frame they will charge you for all the codes that are on it. Hope this helps.

looks like I don't have access to the Nortel keycode retrieval system anymore. They've migrated it to an Avaya platform as 12/6/10
What are my options?

You can just to avaya.com/krs and use your old Nortel credentials. We have several techs in our office who havw gotten in.

if it's just the HDD thats died, u can re-image a new 80Gig SATA drive- upload the patches and backup, load in the keycode file and it will work like new...

With the Nortel to Avaya KRS transition, the process has changed a little.
The good news is, you no longer have to purchase an upgrade keycode if you transition keycodes from a broken machine at 1 Rev to a replacement machine at a higher one.
The bad news is, that migration process through the Avaya system is broken right now. Apparently I was the test case and it failed.

Dang it, adamandamy, as my daddy always said, I send you to do one little thing and you screw up the whole shooting match, LOL. Thanks for the info on the migration. Please let us know when its fixed and how the process works.
