Hi Guys,

We are taking on a new client. BCM50 R3 with ICC & RCC. They want to be upgraded to R5. Which is planned for the next couple of weeks. Do I need to upgrade their RCC as well ?

I hate RCC as I have never had much luck with it and try to avoid touching it as much as possible. I am hoping I can get away with leaving as is.

Can any of you guys confirm ? Docs seem a bit sketchy.

If I do have to upgrade it too, any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

You are going to need to upgrade the RCC client after you upgrade. Remover the RCC application from the server before you upgrade. Don't delete the MYSQL folder. Upgrade system, install latest patches, then download and install the new RCC application. Go into the new RCC and setup the call center connection, then test it.

Doh,

I was hoping to get away with it. I have only ever installed RCC twice and it was a complete nightmare. Is it just me being unlucky, or is it really the app from hell ?

Thanks Bluemr2.

It can get a little hairy. If you have problems with it, I've found it easiest and fastest to reformat the PC with windows XP and IIS, and reinstall RCC. We used to let the server be one the client supplied, but found that there are a lot of different software interactions that would kill the RCC. Now we supply the PC turn off updates, firewall, put a fresh copy of XP pro on it and NOTHING else. Seems to work well like that.

Thanks for the info. Have a star on me :)

Yeah it is pretty much the worst software ever...I have found the newer releases of RCC only work on Windows 7 with IIS installed with the all extra options installed (or what ever ones stated in the installation manual).

I rarely have luck with an upgrade, I usually tell customers you are going to lose all historical data, as I have had instances where it upgrades successfully and then the database crashes 2 weeks later

Well I was feeling good about myself as I just done the upgrade a couple of days ago. I followed bluemr2 suggestion and all went smoothly and working fine. Fingers crossed for the next 2 weeks I suppose :)
