BCM50 R3 HDD & Factory Image

I have 2 dead R3 HDDs, both Seagate 80Gb, but no working unit to re-image these from. Can I use Acronis & the R3 imaging DVD to resurrect the drives, rather than buy a multi-version unit?

do a sector by sector image..
