I have a customer with a R1 BCM50 and they are switching carriers and i was told by the new carrier that they can only send and rewceive 10 digits and no less. The BCM50 R1 by design can only go up to 7 digits received. My question is can i just set it to 7, program the last 7 digits of the 10 they will be sending. and if I do that will the system accept the call and just route based on what it sees as the last 7 digits of the 20 digit number??

Also is there anything with outbound calling and setting it to 10 digits that I need to worry about other that the Public OLI bing 10 digits?

Thanks

Eric

I don't think the inbound side will work. The target line has to see the exact digit string to properly identify the call from my experience. I have never tried doing a DNIS mapping in a BCM, they may not even support it, but that would be a way to get around this. In a way that's what the target lines do, but I am not sure if there is a way to create a table or do a digit conversion from 10 to 7.

I have actually had the carrier send me 4 digits and I have had to on a certain number only configure 3. The BCM will match the 3 digits from right to left on that particular number.

Set your BRI card digit length to 10
Then set your Public length to what ever length your extns require.

EG: service provider sends 10: set BRI to see 10
set Public length to 4 same as extn numbers.

Now the BCM will see 10 digits and subtract 6 leaving the last 4 digits.
You the assign these digits to match your extn.
