Customer has 5 or 6 "Answer DN's" spread out in their office to help cover the operator. Sometimes one of the covering ext's will pick up a call on that button and when they release the call, the light on the phone continues to indicate that the line is occupied. If they go into programming and change the button to appear only, and then put it back to appear and ring, the problem is solved. I looked at the error log and it is inundated with an error similar to:
"System memory near or at capacity" and then usually within 15 minutes there is something that comes in behind it and it says:
"system memory has been restored." I'm wondering if the memory shortage is causing the problem mentioned above.
Anyone ever had anything similar to this? Thanks in advance.

Is that Bcm patched to the latest? That's the first thing i would do.

It might be a good idea to go into Element Manager and select Administration. Then select General, followed by the Alarms tab. Make a note of any information that refers to the time the problems happened and let us know.

Also select the software management section, followed by the software update history tab to see what patches are currently fitted.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I haven't been back there, but I'm going to say that they don't have any patches installed. If that is the case, do I have to do a series of patches to get caught up, or will the latest patch cover all previous patches? Do anyone know the file names of the patches that are needed, or how I can find out that info? thanks again.

Follow my details on getting the current patches installed and also go into configuration by..

going into Element Manager and select Configuration
Then select System followed by the Identification tab. This should give you the System site ID and software version.

Usually, I just make sure that I have Nortel's latest system update patch installed first & then I have the Desktop update patch applied if RCC is used although I still tend to install it anyway.

These 2 patches have all of the previous single updates combined making it easier to carry out.

Make a note of any information that you can find and let us know please?.

Depending of the release of your bcm50(rel1,2 or 3) install the latest Desktop and SU_System patches,it will include all the previous patches.

I will be back there Thursday afternoon to try to do some magic. Thanks for all the feed back. This web site has been awesome for me.

I did the upgrade on Tuesday evening and it seemed to go well. I have contacted the customer three times in last two days to check on them and they are clean as a whistle so far, so it looks like the patches worked.

They do have a R3.0 and they did not have any updates in the history. Thanks for all the help, everyone.

I lost some clearance on the NOrtel website due to our BP status, and now I am not able to see the upgrades/patches on the site, so that is why it is difficult for me to find out what file are needed, etc., so thanks again for help and patience.
