We have a BCM50 2.0 out in the field. 2 years old with 8 lines on it. The client complained last fall that some callers inbound can't get thru to extensions with a zero in it like 230. We tested this and found no issue- however it was only from their mobile I phones or some newer style cell phones with the flat screens. I have an older Blackberry and did not have any issue at all any extension 230-700-701 went thru every time. Now they say some calls on land lines are not getting thru??? tested all 8 lines for 2 days every call went thru... Any ideas were we should look ??? Is it possible the BCM has an issue ???

You gotta love those sporadic troubles... you can sit there for 1 week testing - then when you leave the trouble occurs!

- What is the customer saying that it is doing?
- When the issue occurs (dial 0) what happens... is there an announcement/ does it go back to AA/ or to GM/ transfers somewhere else/ sit there doing nothing?
- Do you have the last patches on the 2.0?

I personally never heard of that issue before.

iT SAYS YOU HAVE ENTERED AN INVALED EXTENSION USUALLY. tHE bcm50 WAS NEW IN THE BOX IN FEB 2008 ONLY LOADED PATCHED 1 TIME 1 YEAR AGO...IT IS ALMOST LIKE THE ZERO IS AN ISSUE FROM THE NEWER CELL PHONES WHEN I TESTED IT WITH THE CLIENTS NEWEST FLAT I PHONE IT NEVER GOT THRU ONCE. SO WE JUST SAID TALK TO TECH SUPPORT ON THE CELL PHONE SIDE NOT OUR ISSUE BECAUSE MY OLDER BB WORKS FINE.

If it gets bad enough you can go to a CCR tree where they dial single digits instead of the DN, of course you may need to do sub-paths by departments to accomodate your numbering plan.

Since you have a phone to test with, open up BCM Monitor and watch the incoming call on it and it should show you what is happening.

On their newer phone, is it the same provider as the other phones? What happens when they dial 0 for the attendant? Think of another Norstar system in the area with a similar DN plan and see if it happens to it.

You might ask the Telco to do a transmission test on the lines. Analog lines are tuned to a specific frequency band through the use of load coils, build-out capacitors, and electrical properties inherent in the cable plant. A missing or defective component in their network could mis-tune the frequency response and cause some digits to not be recognized. When you test with the flat phone, can you detect a pattern wherein the problem always occurs on a specific line? You can easily troubleshoot that with BCM Monitor.

If we look at the fact that the newer cell phones are sending a bit of a different tone on the zero. Since they get to the voicemail thru the telco line, is there any program in the BCM 50 that we can tweek for touch tone or reciever settings ????

Patches?????????? As suggested by Dasheen.

Software Update BCM050.R200.120-DSPFIRMWARE Description:
-------------------------------------------------------

- Voicemail message cuts off when in a noisy environment
This update corrects the issue by updating the tones definition exactly as per
the dialtone specifications for the UK.
Q01785034

- Auto attendant does not recognize "0" or "#"
This issue is caused due to a conflict with the SIT (Special Information Tone) tone previously
added in DSP. This problem is fixed in this update.
