When the paging pair of the BCM50 is connected to the amp the music source volume goes up & down any ideas please.

If you are talking about music over speakers you need an amp that has a break/relay in it and connect the page relay on the BCM to it so when a page goes out the music stops and then the page is made.Along with the page tip and ring to the amp.

Also the music source should be a mono output. While I've successfully used stereo outputs, remember that you're only connecting one side of it. In a stereo music output, depending on whether you're connected to the left channel or right channel you might only hear vocals, instruments, or a varying combination of the two. You can usually just bridge the left and right sides and should be fine. You can even buy adaptor cables from electronics stores that do the bridging.

On a cautionary note, if you're using a broadcast radio station or copyrighted music on CDs, etc you could be breaking a federal law by using that as background music or MOH. I recently heard a story about a radio station that pretended to run a contest offering employees of local business cash to call the station, put them on hold, and prove that they were using the station's broadcast for MOH. Then they would ask the business to pay royalties under the threat of a lawsuit. The business owner that related that to me said it happened to him and cost him thousands to clear up the matter. Sounds like extortion but sometimes that's the way the world works.
