I've acquired a BCM50 and am integrating it into my home lab. I have an expansion cabinet with a DTI configured as a DMS-100 PRI, and this is how the BCM trunks with the rest of my network. I have two 1140E's with UNISTIM firmware registered to the BCM and they work pretty well. I've only scratched the surface on familiarizing myself with the configuration tree within Business Element Manager, but I'm hoping someone can help answer some questions I have.

Inbound Caller ID - Display Name & Number Simultaneously on 1140E Sets
Inbound CID is working fine, however, it seems that the phone will only display the CID Name and I have to dial feature code 811 while the call is ringing to get additional CID information. I understand with the Norstar digital sets that they are a single line display, so in that case it makes sense. However, I'm wondering if there is any way to configure the 1140E to display both the CID name and number at the same time?

Target Lines & Line Appearances
In order to get inbound calling to work, I configured target lines to match the appropriate called digit patter to DN (in my case it's a 1:1 digit pattern to DN, so the Pub. Received # = DN). This works great, but no CID information is passed to the handset (I see it in BCM Monitor though). Instead, the set displays "LineXXX to prime". I discovered that in order to pass CID to the set, I needed to add the respective DN to the "Assigned DNs" of the Target Line. However, this then consumes one of the line appearance softkeys on the phone. And when a second call comes in, there is no CID unless I add a second line appearance for this. Is there any way to get CID to pass to the set without consuming valuable softkeys? It seems like a waste of perfectly good softkeys. Is there a better way to configure this?

I have more questions for y'all, but I'll just start here. :-D

Any input/feedback/criticism is greatly appreciated!

You can see only one option first only, Name, Number or Line# depending what you set it at for that DN.
So yes you would need to use Feature 811 before answering or press View (softkey) when answered.

As for CLID you will get it right away if the set is programmed to ring, this means Appear & Ring or Ring Only.
Ring Only will come in on the Intercom key.
You also have to to Telco Features/Line # to allow Caller ID.

FYI - Softkey's are the 3 keys below the display, all others are "buttons".

"LineXXX to prime"
That means the call went to DRT mode.
In an example if the Prime set is reception's DN but the line is actually told to be answered by Auto Attendant and Callpilot crases it will DRT to the Prime Set base on the DRT ring count, default is 4.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply! I will play with setting the Assigned DNs for a given Target Line to "Ring Only". A friend of mine who also has some BCM experience mentioned this same thing.

Bummer about the Caller ID display limitation, but I think it's livable.

Nice, setting the Target Line to "Ring Only" did the trick.
