I have a BCM50 set up with an IP Phone(1230). When I plug the phone in, it boots up and is working fine...

my issue is, when i boot the phone, hit the 4 soft buttons to get into the config, it promps me to enter a password. i have no idea what this password is, or were its set/stored on the BCM50.

can anyone point me to the menu/setting where this password is stored? if it is somewhere in the BCM50, the default was likely changed, if it is stored on the phone, it is probably the default

thanks!

It is referred to as the "Local Tools Menu Password". The default is as shown above. It can be changed via Nortel-i2004-B DHCP or TFTP/HTTP config files served to the IP Phone.

thanks for the responses...

color*set? so 26567*738?

"local tools menu password" is there a section in element manager to set this?

thanks!

To clairfy im looking to get into the settings where i can input a static ip address and the S1 and S2 addresses...

it comes up, i hit the 4 buttons, and it prompts for a password. can seem to find anything that works?

Not set in Element Manager. It is stored in the phone and can be changed or turned off via Nortel-i2004-B DHCP or TFTP/HTTP config files served to the IP Phone.

gwebster

you say it can be changed or turned off via nortel-i2004 DHCP im not familiar with this?

The IP Phone software starting in early 2008 added additional ability to configure parameters beyond the Nortel-i2004-A string. You can now also use a Nortel-i2004-B string, LLDP, HTTP/TFTP text files, or any combination of these to configure the phones. Although not specific to BCM, the CS 1000 "IP Phone Fundamentals" NTP has a good writeup on how this works. The Product Bulletin or ReadMe file associated with each software release outlines all of the paramaters which can be configured through these methods.

have you tried just hitting the ok without a password...or perhaps the global reg password which has 2264 as the default
