Does anyone know for sure whether or not the interior analog station ports on a BCM50 will pass DTMF?

I know I can put a GASM or a ASM8+ in an expansion cabinet and do DTMF but I would rather not eat that up. I believe that the internal 4 analog station ports will pass DTMF, but I would like to know for sure.

Thanks in advance!

The built in analogue extn ports will pass CLID info to a device that can receive it.
If clid info is sent to the IATA then this info is forwarded from the port.
The ATA can be set to receive tones by setting the "receive tones" tag in "Capabilities" for this extn.
This means the port can receive DTMF tones to acitvate a device when answered such as a radio paging system.
The person would have to then send in DTMF to dial the correct internal pager.

I am assuming you want the DTMF sent to the IATA when answered.
Dialing from the IATA will pass tones onwards

Ok..... IATA? We are not talking about a single ATA port off the system like a CICS.....

The BCM50 has 4 analog station ports that can be activated via keycoyde.

So all of those 4 ports can be set to receive tones. So that when I am calling, for instance, another device that requires DTMF tones to be "heard", I can dial the appropriate digit and the Analog station will pass those DTMF tones to the device.

I have a company that has an annoucement system connected to the BCM50 via the 4 analog station ports. When a user on the system dials the extension number of one of those analog station ports, the announcement machine answers.... it will then ask them to dial 1 for this announcement.... dial 2 for this announcement.... etc.

You are telling me that this works just fine? It will pass the DTMF??

I think it will pass tone also, but I know it will not receive disconnect signal. So you need to make sure that the announcement system will hang up after use. Otherwise you can use the GASM8 it does recognize disconnect.

What if this originating call enters the BCM50 via a VoIP trunk? Will the analog ports still pass DTMF?

Yes i have used this on a paging system connected to the IATA port.
When the paging system answered the user was required to enter the page device number.
You had to make sure the IATA was set to receive tones.

NOTE: also in the ata settings there is a box to check under ata timer to do with tones.
Not to sure what this is for.

Ok, so SnowMan50 you are killing me with the IATA term. That is used for CICS systems.

You are telling me that it works with a BCM50, right?

Thanks also to hawks. That could be an issue too. Will it eventually drop, you think? It's not as they use this system that often. Perhaps, it will drop on it's own??

As for Boomarang, if it comes in on a CO trunk, be it a VoIP or a PSTN line, it should be fine to pass Caller ID/ DTMF to a device on the analog station ports. (from what I gather)

Thanks for all who respond.

Hope you recover soon.

The IATA is the term for Internal ATA.
The built in ATA the same as norstar built in ATA.

Hope this clears this up.
