Hi,

I have BCM 50 unit, the hard disk is faulty so I got a new disk same specs as the faulty one, Loaded the image files using Acronics, put back the disk and the bcm does not boot, the led stay at amber for over 1 hour and still cannot ping the unit or login to it.
please assist on what could be the issue,
I used rls 6 images,
thanks.

You need to use the same Release as the original.
So if it was Rls 1, 3 or 5 then your R6 will not work.

-Do you have a copy of the keycode file?
-What is the NT9T # on the back of the BCM?

Thanks Curlycord,

It is NT9T6502E5
Seems like it is a Rls 3.0 System

Now the problem is , was it upgraded?
So your choices are now R3 or R5 images since R6 does not work.

BCM Multi Image Drive would be handy, you make an image of that to have on file.
When you boot that up you use SSH and choose which image to load, once completed it deletes all the other images of itself to make room.
That is was you need make a copy if you get that image.

Your other problem is the keycode file, do you have it? you need to reload keycodes to open the features.

Yes It was upgrade to rls 6.0,
I have the 3.0 codes. cannot find the 6.0 ones,

also how does one go about BCM Multi Image Drive, any guide available

If your 3.0 lic file shows Upgrade....

-Install the multi drive and boot up, log into Putty/SSH with default credentials.
-Choose BCM50 and Rls 3

-Once it is loaded install the keycode
-Now upgrade it using the R2/3 to R6 Upgrade software.

Once it is upgraded to R6 then load these in order:
-R6 Image Patch
-System 022
-Desktop 005
-SAMBA 136-1
-UTPS 138-1

Make an image of your new disk so you will not have this issue again.

I will reply to your email shortly.

If it was R6 then the keycodes are also saved in the eprom chip onboard the BCM50. I'm thinking an R6 HDD should have booted up.

If you used a multi-image HDD and chose R6, there was a glitch with the R6 image on systems that had been upgraded from an earlier release. I've had many an R6 that wouldn't load from a multi-image HDD. All other releases seem to work fine.

Curlycord's advice on how to restore the system looks like your best bet.

Hello Adil

The information given above is along the lines on what I mentioned to you earlier on this week.
