I have been working with a BCM50 in my Lab for a few weeks now.
The Message Waiting Indicator on the Internal Analog Station Ports strikes me as being rather quirky when using "Lamp" for MWI under
Capabilities/ATA settings. While I have had no issues with an ASM8+
or a GASM with this signalling, I have found these GASI ports provide the following: Approx. 95-100VDC with a cadence of .5 sec ON and .5 sec off.
I have tried a variety of message waiting capable sets, but am unable to locate the sole set I have that actually has a Neon Bulb wired across tip & ring...
This strikes me as the only type of set that would truly respond to this kind of signal in a favorable way.
The sets I have tried are Aastra/Nortel 8004 and 9316 sets as well as Unity II set. No light. My DVM and a butt set confirm the signal is indeed there.
What I am wondering is:
What is the real-world use for this?
Has anyone gotten the "Lamp" setting to work with any particular sets or circumstances?
