BCM50 First Time Installer....

Hi All,

I am a sys admin I dont have any experience with PBX systems. It is my responsibility to install BCM50 in our new branch office.

We have BCM50 with GATM8 as expansion module. So far we have purchased the keycode for 4 lines and in future we may add 4 more lines.


I have done the initial setup using the Element manager by reading the quick setup/getting started documentation.


I am able to recv calls from outside, local extensions are also working.

Dialing out is not working. I dont see any documentation which tells me how to configure this portion.

When I press 9 or 8, it gives a fast busy tone with a message on display "no free lines".

I also looked at the startup profile template. I could not find anything related. Whatever was mentioned in the startup profile template, I configured it manually by going through the documentation using the Element Manager.

Please guide by as I am a first time installer.

It's better to get some one to help you in the initial install- and shadow that person and learn
that being said

1. Group the lines into Pools - similar to modempools (eg Pool A) - assign unsed lines in a diff pool
2. Give access to extension to the pools (pool A is avbl by default)
3. 9 is the default access code for Pool A in N.A. systems
