I just installed a BCM50 2.0 and wanted to know what you need to do to tie into the customers network and maybe have remote access through modem or internet via port forwarding to an inside IP address as there are no spare outside IP's. I have installed 400s and 1000's and it's easy enough to set the IP address to comply with the customers network, but when I last attempted it on the BCM50 I ran into problems. It appears you have to disable the DHCP in order to change the IP address and that the DHCP is only relevant to the OAM port? Can someone give me a rundown on what you should do to enable the customer to have access through his network yet enable me to get in via remote access if possible. If the unit's tied to his network I don't care if the OAM port works as I'll just access through their network settings when on site. Thanks for any info on this.

Assuming regular BCM50
If there is an external DHCP server on the network - disable the BCMs dhcp server (under config/dhcpserver) - on the LAN port.

(I think on the OAM port DHCP server is always enabled - to a dhcp client it always give 10.10.11.2)

Hope this helps

How about an easy method to gain remote access to this unit via either Modem or via internet possibly port forwarding or some other method to gain access?

Port forwarding works just fine. It is a high port range, that I don't recall off hand, but I can look at the firewall and get that for you. Also, if you remote desktop a machine on the LAN, you get right in.

With the port forwarding, I use Element Manager with the WAN IP address and all is good. If you need to access Calpilot, it is another port as well.
