I have a site where desktop messaging was working on 1 PC and now it's not. According to the IT tech nothing on the network has changed. The telephone icon on the task bar shows the total messages including new messages but it will not display on the Outlook 2003 desktop. That goes for all messages (fax, voice).
Any help would be appriciated.

Is Outlook configured in corporate/workgroup mode on that PC? I believe if Outlook is configured for POP3 type access that the CallPilot messages do not show up in a separate message store.

This is just a shot in the dark.

The customer is using POP3. If the messages don't show up in a seperate message store, then where do they go?

They go into the "regular" inbox with the users emails if I remember correctly.

I pretty sure I checked the regular inbox but did not see anything there either but I will check again. But I still don't understand why it was working and then stopped working. According to the customer nothing was changed.

I had this problem on a Bcm 3.7 fully patched. It might be the same thing happening. If so i have a patch for this issue, that was sent to me by Level 2 at Nortel.
I had that same issue 3 months ago, where the small phone
icon on the right side would populate with all the new messages but messages would not populate in the Inbox.
It turns out to be that the way the bcm streams the information is different between the icon and the Inbox.
There was read only rights for some components of the desktop messaging. That new .dll bypass those restrictions.
Let me know i'll e-mail it to you.

Yes! Please email it to me gberger.
Thanks. But will it work on a BCM50?

You might give it a try.
You need to install the path on the user's desktop,You first
stop Outlook rename the file nmdcms32.dll to nmdcms32Old.dll
(just in case it doesnt work you can go back with the previous .dll) then copy the nmdcms32.dll over and restart
Outlook. It did work for me so hope the same for you.

It turns out that that the IT tech had installed a spyware program on all the PC's and when he disabled the email portion of it the desktop messaging was working again. The program was Spectre soft (according to the IT tech).
