BCM50 calls disconneting

I have a BCM50(v2.0) on a private network with 2 other bcm50's(v6.0) and a bcm400(v4.0).

The bcm50(v2.0) is having issues with calls disconnecting after 30-40+ minutes, I have not been able to reproduce the problem, but they insist it exists and happens often.

Now, this location all calls route out over the IP Trunks and out through the Bcm400's PRI. They say the problem exists both on outside calls and site to site calls. So to me that points to some issue with the IP Trunks.

This site and the BCM400 have been up and running for a couple of years, they are saying the problem has existed for some time, but perhaps is becoming more regular that they are now complaining about it.

Any suggestions?

I believe that is a patch issue on 2.0. Maybe look for the patch or upgrade to 3

Could also be network congestion. Look at the alarm logs for any events related to jitter around the time of dropped calls. A professional network evaluation may be needed.

thanks to both of you, 2 questions that I have.

1, where do I get the patches from, I contacted the tech support from my distributor and they didn't know where to download them from.

2, do you know what the packets are tagged as for voip calls? I talked to my network guy and he said he's not 100% sure the qos is set up right b/c he doesn't know what the packets are tagged as, and I can't answer that question.

They get downloaded from the Nortel site but you need to be an authorized dealer.

Did your IT guy create a data vlan and a voice vlan?

no, he did not create separate vlans because they are digital sets. So we're trying to figure out what the packets are tagged as coming out of the phone system so he can prioritize them and set up the QOS.

As a disclaimer, I did not do the initial setup, I have installed the last 2 sites, but the first 2 (including the problem site) were done by another company we subcontracted.

All he needs to priortize are any packets sourced from the IP addresses of the three BCMs. Oh, by the way, there is no BCM50 ver 5. Its probably a 5.0 which is the most recent. I would suggest a network assessment and complete patching and backup schedules setup be done by a valid Avaya partner.
Those steps will save you a lot of sleepless nights.
